Bad to worse...

My impression of the culture in China is getting from bad to worse...

I really sympathise with my supervisor today. The general manager simply marched into my office and started scolding my supervisor in front of all of us. And I think it was totally uncalled for. The reasons for the scolding was not very valid and the message could have been put through in a much better way. The worst thing is that must he scold ppl so fiercely in front of so many ppl in a very nasty language? Everyone has his pride. what's more his subordinates and colleagues are all around. Even I feel paiseh for him.

Is this really the Chinese culture? Disappointing once again. During lunch, we all discussed abt the matter and found out that this was not the first time this had happened. No wonder the turnover rate for staff for Coke is so high. Dunnoe how many ppl quit in a very short time and heard they find it hard to employ ppl cos ppl find the salary and welfare too poor.

My personal opinion of the matter is that everyone is working for the company. If there are any differences or opinions or even if he wanted to give him a piece of mind, he should have called my supervisor to his office and not disgrace him in front of so many ppl. And wat's more, this only causes the morale of the whole department to fall drastically. I was like wth. So off. Felt abit guilty also cos some of the stuff was related to my project and my sup had to take all the S**T for me and my fren. But it was not our fault also cos no clear instructions was given at all.

In summary, this is definitely poor management and I have really lost my respect and confidence for the management of the company. And trust me, I am not the only one to say that.

Seen the ugly side of the world these 2 days and I took a moment to think about it. Makes me feel how lucky we are in Singapore where welfare is much better and society is much more caring and well-mannered, with good systems in place. Although sometimes there may be mistakes in some policies but well wat is perfect in this world?? I will not take Singapore for granted anymore and enjoy every bit of it when I get back...

Shall end with a few thoughts:

1. People always take things for granted until they lose them. Therefore, cherish everything around you when you have them cos they may not be there forever.

2. You will never appreciate the beauty of the world without experiencing the ugly side. Just like victory will never be sweet without bitterness......

NDP is near...You ppl are lucky to be able to have a day of rest next Tue and watch the wonderful parade at Padang...I am sure the SAF/SCDF/Police really put in lots of effort this year with the mobile column cos I witnessed it myself. The servicemen muz have burnt dunnoe how many weekends to bring you this show. Cherish it and show your love for Singapore on that day! (hmm wonder when did I become so patriotic haha) but this is really from my bottom of my heart.
