Great Wall/NDP Celebrations @ Singapore Embassy

Weekend is ending again...as usual, fresh pics are out on my blog once again...it has been a feature of my blog for the year 2005, bringing all the ppl who are reading my blog around the world...Letting them see what I have been experiencing all around the world for this year..

So this weekend, I shall present to you all another Wonder of the World...The Great Wall of China...The only man-made wonder to be seen from outer space...

The trip started with a trip to the Underground Palace where 13 emperors of the Ming Dynasty were buried. Only one of the tombs was open and we got to see what the tomb looked like although it was quite empty. But I marvelled at the amount of details and efforts they had put in to make sure even after the emperor passed away..he lived like an emperor in the other world. The architecture of the tomb was also quite amazing considering there were no heavy machinery in those days. God noes how they dug so deep into the ground and managed to prevent the place from collapsing in those days...

The area of the underground palace has excellent feng shui...In chinese is bei shan mian hai...it has mountains on 3 sides and it faces a river...this was chosen by zhu yuan zhang who was the first emperor of the ming dynasty who wanted to make sure the ming dynasty would last for thousand of years....Overall quite a nice place and learnt quite alot of history thru my tour guide. The only pity was that alot of important stuff was destroyed by the Red Army during the Cultural Revolution from 1964-1974...

Next stop would be The Great Wall.....The place we went to was Ba Da Ling which I tink was too commercialised. Once we alighted the bus we could already see vendors trying to sell us souvenirs of the Great Wall...but once we got up...the scenery was great..hee you guys can see the pics...The climb up was pretty tiring..esp that I practically had to squeezed my way up as there was seriously too much ppl on the Great Wall...

With the help of modern technology...I was also able to send live pictures of the Great Wall via MMS to xl....it is amazing what a simple camera phone can do...by the time the day ended, my whole body was aching already...haha

Sunday...was deciding to nua at home or go for NDP celebrations/charity bazaar @ the Singapore Embassy. In the end, the decision was decided by xl 9 plus in the morning..haha... Glad I went too cos it was really a great feeling to see so many Singaporeans. Really felt at home when I entered the embassy esp when ppl inside told us in Hokkien to que up to take food inside..hahaha I replied in Hokkien too.. =p

The buffet included satay, rendang curry, chicken curry, fried bee hoon and fried kway teow... all my favorite..haah...I totally forgot abt my sore throat when I saw the food..haha disobeying orders fr someone to avoid heaty food..erm...bo bian...Singaporeans always die for food..haha as my fren said...Singaporeans live to eat...not eat to live..lolz..quite true...

The music throughout the compound was NDP songs..pretty nice...I could not help but song signed parts of some songs...I felt that I was back at home and the NDP atmosphere was there.. The sounds of Singlish filled the event hall ... quite some time since we heard so many ppl speak singlish...Great way to spend the Sunday.... =)

Tmr is Monday le..but at least this coming week is 4 day working week...looking forward to first lessons at Bei Da on Friday....
