Summer Palace & "Blind Date"

Quite a packed weekend with 2nd week of lessons starting at PKU..the lessons are really getting really hard...with more and more content coming...i am starting to owe a few writeups...tink I shld start doin them this week...

All the GIP students went on a "blind date" session on Friday..hahaha...each of us were matched up to a PKU student (boy boy to ger ger) where we sat and had dinner tog...reminds me of the speed dating session article i read abt in the papers...haha...so typical...even the tables had name tags so we could not choose where to sit...win liao...

Dinner was super CMI...cold vege cold rice, even worse my lunch at coke usually...but overall quite a good session as we got to noe more of the PKU students and their lifestyle...

Some of them even went on to a ktv session after that...haha best....

Sat was the visit to Summer Palace organised by PKU once again..they have really nice to us so far with warm reception and free trips to the places of interest...

The Summer palace is the place where emperors take a break and enjoy themselves...it mainly consists of a lake and different gardens...the lake area covers 3/4 of the total land area of the whole Summer Palace...it is really veri 诗情画意 place...with 垂柳 all over the place which really compliments the lake well...using ur eyes to view the lake area is really juz like viewing a painting..absolutely photo perfect...as u can see from my pics...

The palace was burnt down twice in its history but 慈禧太后 rebuilt it so that she could fulfill her own enjoyment..and guess wat ...she used the budget for the whole China navy to rebuild the palace...she is really a veri extravagant person..according to our tour guide..she has thousands of servants following her whenever she goes out...and has nearly 2000 pieces of clothes in her luggage whenever she travels out of town...hmm if it is today..she confirm go broke paying over weight luggage fees...no wonder my history teacher at PKU says she is a bad ruler...

The palace is also the place to come during summer as it is supposed to be cooler...the main attraction of the palace is the 长廊 which measures ard 700+ metres if i nv remember wrongly.. it is built for the emperor's mummy so that when it rains she also can enjoy the sights and views of the Summer Palace...the pillars and top of the 长廊 has beautiful paintings of the sights the palace as well as 名著 such as Romance of the 3 kingdoms, Monkey God and 红楼梦...

Ok time to sign off now..bluey monday coming again...but it is goin to b September soon..yay!

Autumn is here...the weather is getting cooler le..this is good news cos lately I have been spending lots of time in the kitchen...tink ard 8 hrs for the weekend...so it better dun get so hot.. hee
