Disappointed and disgusted

People reading my blog may think that well km is having a great time in the US, touring ard blah blah blah..well it is juz that the behind the scenes sorrows were not posted. Failing quizzes, assignments, projects has become a norm for me and that is not because I played too much. It is simply because I am just not up to the standards here. Our dear NTU has so kindly matched me with all their year 4 and grad classes and I also dunnoe for F. Trying to give me a challenge? or did they assume that the standards at Georgia Tech were too low for their liking.

Ya, simple mis-matches by them now may cost me my honours and my clean record. Hard work does not pay off here and the work rate of students is crazy. (x 2 of NTU at least) FYI: labs and basically the whole school's academic facilities open 24/7 and trust me...there is a reason for that.

Just feeling simply disappointed now with the amt of effort I put in and yet I am struggling to pass. My modules have become Greek to me with the amount of mathematical notations surpassing the amount of English. Making it worse, there are no proper lecture notes. Self-research is required. I have really learn to appreciate the education system in NTU. Studying here makes studying in NTU like a breeze. At least there is edventure. (online lecture notes system). Really beats going to class and trying to copy notes all the time and don't even know what is going on. Makes me wonder whether I am a printer or photocopying machine.

Last resort, turn to my professor here. Guess what, he was so "helpful"

Advice number 1 by Prof:"oh I think you should contact the academic department to tell them about the mis-match and not come to me".

ya rite, even if I contacted them I also could not drop this module cos I had to clear it duh.

Advice number 2 by Prof:"To improve I think you can read and do all the questions in the textbook"

I can become a professor if my job was to just give this kind of advice. What's more, the txtbk does not have answers.

Advice number 3 by Prof:"I do not set quizzes according to assignments or notes, doing the quizzes is just like the difference of watching soccer and playing soccer"

No comments at all. Speechless. Is there an Asian Handicap for this "soccer game"?

End result of meeting with professor: no gain academically + DL + Totally disgusted

Perhaps just my luck to run into such a professor and I guess not all the professors here are like this. I have heard of stories of very nice professors and how they helped students. Well I am already used to my poor luck dunnoe since when..haha my roomie can testify to that..

Ok weekends coming and hope I get to unwind abit...but the fear of failing haunts me every night. Looking forward to end of sem here and embark on my tour of US...
