Sentosa/Initial D

Haven updated my blog for a few days.. cos dunnoe where to blog from..too many things to blog abt...went in and out of sentosa these 2 days both for work and leisure.. CURL was held at Sentosa and has finally ended hee...though I was only there to help my Master aka Steff for 2 days.. I felt at home as they were mostly made up of WSC/Hall 3 ppl...hee...nice meeting old frenz like Weili, Jamie, Xinhui etc...

Thanks to CURL I had free entry into Sentosa for 2 days..and I put it to good use by touring sentosa for free..haha.. went to the area ard the Musical Fountains like the Orchid Gardens and some garden that had many mushrooms haha....took photos with the Merlion etc..haha I feel like a tourist in Singapore.. Watched the musical fountain too... forgot when was the last time I watched it and I must say it has improved alot! Laser show and new characters like the Sentosa Monkey and octopus...Nice show overall...Had a more exciting time letting someone drive my car within Sentosa while I sat in the passenger seat..I thought I could take a break from driving..haha...luckily din had a heart attack..haha ok the driver was not that bad..I juz had to grab the steering wheel ocassionally..lolz...

Went to catch Initial D which starred JAY ZHOU JIE LUN after Sentosa!! hahaha....some ppl will noe why i caps lock that name..hee hee..shall not say in my blog openly or else ppl will complain I bhb... at least I have proven I can drive while eating ice cream or holding a pot of fish soup...sorry if some of you dun understand this part..juz ignore it if u dun..haha

Initial D was not bad... comprised of comedy, romance, and of course fast and furious racing action. Not forgetting the 5 big stars in the show... a must watch if you are a fan of Initial D or if you are a fan of any of the 5 stars... i would rate the show 4 stars.... The box office of the movie shld be really good judging from the crowd...full house for all the midnite shows...lucky i booked the tix in advanced...

Time to sign off again.... time to attend my grandma's birthday dinner followed by a drinking session with Westlife...hope I dun forget to wake up tmr for Song Sign Performance..tink I need a morning call..haha *hint hint*... gosh I am slightly sunburnt from Sentosa...haha as if I am not dark enough...

Antique Drama Fever

I have been handed a 40 episode drama from my parents and it is mainly about doing trading in antiques. Sounded like a boring drama to me at first but I admit I was totally wrong after watching the first episode. Based in the Liu Li Chang in Beijing just after the Last Emperor, it depicted how traders plotted against each other and explained the art of disguise and deception when doing business.

There are also love stories in the drama and also how the poor survived the hardship. The Chinese accent may prove to be a challenge for some but I loved it. Excellent pronouciation and the additon of poetry and idioms in their conversation made it really nice to watch.

I love it and I watched 5 epi at one go yesterday...definitely one of the highly recommended dramas.... that is if you appreciate Chinese well.... I can't sleep without watching it nowadays... Even watched it yesterday night although I was supposed to wake up at 6am the next day...

Oh btw....this is part of the "core arts modules" that I am currently taking from the Ong Family. My professors are Mr and Mrs Ong aka my parents. 40 VCD, 6 txtbks and more, tonnes of art pieces to analyse.... currently taking 6 arts modules of 4 AUs each....hope I can clear all....will go on an arts attachment soon in Beijing..haha...hope you guys know wat I am talking abt....

just for the record I am still a computer engineering undergrad...haha....

Father's Day Celebration

This post is abit late but still Happy Father's Day to my dad!! Din manage to celebrate Mother's Day with my mum as I was still in US but at least this time I was in time for Father's Day. My mum had no complaints as I ordered a dozen of carnations and a cake for her when I was in the States. I am proud to have given her a pleasant surprise. Also making my aunties and neighbours envious for having such a filial son...hmm..oops..getting bhb liao..

Went to Lei Garden @ Orchard for lunch with my 6th and 5th aunties...shared the $180 bill with my cousin.. abit broke now..haha...after that my cousin & I had to lead my mum and my aunts/uncles to take the MRT to Chinatown....it was an "enriching" experience..haha I tink it has been quite some time since they took public transport together. We had to bring them ard like tourists but surprisingly they all had their EZlink cards..hmm..maybe they already planned to take public by not driving in the first place.

Had tea @ Hans at Chinatown and gossiped the whole afternoon about the latest happenings esp the murder @ Geylang involving the China woman. This made my aunts warn me about not going to China for 6 mths and getting hooked up with a China woman. Even my cousin gave me a stern warning. Well, no worries, I have no plans of getting attached to any China woman, so ppl you all can stop nagging at me abt this liao..haha…

Last event was dinner at a vegetarian restaurant near OG. I must say the food is not bad even though I am not a great fan of vegetarian food. But nice to clear your stomach once in a while with a non-meat fare.

Nice family day on the whole…..haven had such days for quite some time…. And I tink the next one will be quite some time away since I am flying off soon again..

我们都不一样了

Just met up with my sec classmate/jc mate/NS campmate/NTU fren/roomie haha Mr Hejia...He also went for exchange in the past semester and came back with lots of 感触... They were quite similar to mine...A pity Johnny could not join us at the last min as his gf fell sick....二十四孝的男朋友.....3 cheers for him...hee....

Ate at 翡翠 at TM and then went Long John to chat....exchanged photos and really shared our experiences....Looking at the different photos brought back the memories I had just a few weeks back...it seems just so long ago...stirred up feelings in my heart again...

Our conclusion about student exchange:

1. 就像一场梦,梦醒了就回到原点。
2. 一切都变了。不论是人或事物,都不一样了。
3. We have grown through exchange.
4. The world is really big and Spore is really toooooo small....
5. There are sacrifices to be made.
6. Home is still the best.
7. Horizons have been broadened.
8. Meeting diff kind of ppl is enriching.
9. We learnt lots of things that cannot be learnt thru books.
10. The feeling of being back in Spore is LOST....
11. Common memorable moment: Plane touching down Spore Changi Airport.
12. 2nd common memorable moment: Air Stewardess annoucing "Welcome back home all Singaporeans, we have arrived at Singapore Changi International Airport"
13. The feeling with old friends is no longer the same.
14. We are now super zai at planning travelling trips.
15. It is a once in a lifetime experience.
16. HR is very important when living together abroad and travelling together.
17. Give and take is very important.
18. The memories of the trip is life long.
19. Exchange has made us a more all round person.
20. Last but not least, it has been a right choice to go for exchange and will encourage our other frenz to go.......

Feels good to be able to relate with some one who has also been absent from Singapore for 6 mths...and of course catch up with old frenz....Seen some nice photos of Canada too....will go there someday...muz meet up again b4 I fly off ah..Hejia and Johnny.

Just closed my account for my US trip. Total Expenditure including medicals, paper work, food, transport, travel, souvenirs, accidents hee......Singapore Dollars 12-13k.........

Considering summer and spring trip already took up 4k, actually living expenses for the whole sem was abt 8k (inclusive of round trip air tix on SIA), so it was within budget.... just that maybe I bought too much souvenirs...oops...haha my bad habit: shopping for t-shirts and shot glasses at every city's Hard Rock Cafe. Hee.....

Ok time to practise my song signing.....haven practised since Tuesday.....Hope dun do too badly in tonight's practice at SaDeaf.....Hopefully my "Dreams" will come true.....haha

Result of a hectic day == Fever

Woke up at 7am in a daze as I had to send my mum to orchard to do physiotheraphy... Drove at rush hour jam to arrive at Orchard. Parked at Tanglin Mall after dropping my mum off. The moment I got out of the car park. Torential rain started. The rain was so heavy that I was drenched even though I had an umbrella. It was that bad. By the time I reach the Chinese Embassy, my jeans, shirt, socks and shoes were soaked. What a start to a long day.

Started filling up forms for my visa and the staff at the embassy were super unhelpful and unfriendly. Gave me black faces and redundant answers on whatever questions I asked. And they are only giving me 90 days visa. Telling me to find the local police if I had to extend my visa....duh...have to go back to collect my visa on Monday again..hope it does not rain...*sneezes*

Next stop: Maxwell House. Drop off and pick up documents for my mum. luckily my memory din fail me or else I would have definitely lost my way. *sneezes again*

Next stop: NTU....Went to medical centre to have my injections. Lucky only 1 was needed typhoid. Not that I am afraid of injections but I wan to save $...1 injection is like $20....so the lesser the merrier of course. Had my urine and eyesight test also..hmm I tink I was too tired. Can't really see the letters...or issit my lasik is wearing off..haha...nvm...still 6/6 eyesight...hee.. Met someone at the medical who said she was pissed with me...fine....It was not my fault and I shall not be bothered by this incident though it did make me abit unhappy.

Next stop: JP......met a few freshies when I was doing my chest xray at the clinic at JP. Made me feel like a freshie again..haha....*stomach rumbling*...haven had anyting 4 the whole day....decided to eat KFC since food court was too crowded....though it defies my principle of not eating fast food for the next few mths....but it was the most convenient solution to my lunch... Ate alone @ KFC while observing some sec sch kids....reminds me of my own sec sch days.... they seem so distant away now....

Next stop: NTU GIP office....settled my paper work with Shannon at the GIP office...friendly person...and many thanks to her for all the admin help provided.

Next stop: Lee Wee Nam Library......Did some HI paper work there and printed out Song Signing lyrics....*sigh*.....my SS suz.....met up with Wq at the library and went to PS to watch Star Wars Epi III with him....that was the highlight of the day...finally found someone to watch Star Wars with me since ppl who wanted to watch watched already and the rest din wan to watch...

Finally ended the day with a drive back home....after dinner....I started to have a fever....arghh. stupid rain and injection which is likely to cause a fever according to the nurse....nvm.. I decided to not alarm my parents and sleep it off....Realised that I still had so much stuff to do.. Taking over my family business by starting to read arts txtbks, maintaining my own ebay business, earning some pocket $ @ GA, paper work with regards to GIP, doin admin for my parents, HI stuff and practising SS...I NEED A SECRETARY OR PA .....any volunteers?? haha

Nvm...shall slp for now.....still have a hectic week.....dinner with my roomie tmr, SS practice on Fri, Kallang elections on Sat, Father's Day on Sun....Visa collection on Monday....................

*eyes closes and falls on my bed*

Song Signing Once More

Just went for my first song signing practice in 6 mths and I was really rusty. Forgot alot of signs and really out of sync. What makes things worse is that I never hear the song b4. So can't catch the tune. Btw the song is "Dreams". Quite a nice song after you have the lyrics. Went for Laksa and Prata with Ms LL @ Suntec Kopitiam before the practice. These 2 dishes are still as good. Definitely worth the queue.

Wanted to go for Gelare Waffle cos it was half price on tuesday but in the end the practice ended too late. Practice ended with the whole grp laughing at my mistakes in my positions and my shitty signing...arghhh...shall burn the song into cd and keep listening to it when driving...

Btw performance is on next Sunday 26th June @ Toa Payoh Central. *Faintz* How am I supposed to perform with this kind of standard in front of so many ppl??? If got time can go take a look at Ignite event on that day and watch song signing....erm..juz dun pay too much attention to my signs on that day...heeeee....

Run of bad luck

Haven had the best of luck for the last week...or rather haven had any good luck.

Settled my GIP China at the start of the week...went all the way to sch to have a 1 hr meeting with my IA coordinator...he was not bad....explained me the whole senario - miscomm on the sch's part....SCE thought I had failed 2 modules when I actually passed all. They only bother to find out when I started to make noise. My results had been already released for more than a mth and they din bother to find out. Slackers.....They put more pressure on me when they said I must do well as it was hard to get a placement in Coke. That is just a more polite way of saying "Please dun go to Beijing and throw our face".....more burden on my already weary shoulders...

Surprisingly, I din had much feeling when I sort of settled the GIP thingy....I thought I shld be excited etc and eagerly awaiting for the trip but I dun have any sense of anticipation or excitement for this trip. It is just a "business" trip to me. Go gain experience for 6 mths, learn some practical stuff and then fly back after 6 mths for Christmas... Guess I am tired of flying ard.....haven even warmed my bed at home and I am going to fly off again. Hope it will be a fruitful trip...but one thing I am sure of. It is going to be full of sacrifices again.

Went for Westlife outing last Fri, both for my return and also to celebrate Mr Lbj's bday...we bought him a Star Wars Lego toy which he liked hopefully..hee...but I was sure Westlife like my gift for them from the States...shall not state what they are here so as to avoid jealousy from my other friends.hee......Den my bad luck continued as I got swept in mahjong. 一家输三家... what else can go wrong....but it was fun though....9 hrs of exciting mahjong...haha lost $28 bucks in the end.

What ever could went wrong went wrong from that day onwards too....Murphy's Law: What may go wrong will wrong... I truly believe it now.....

But nvm....shall 不任命....life goes on.....someday..my luck will change...one cant be suay 4ever rite...what a self-consoling sentence...haha

Enlightenment

Thanks to someone for a long chat with me today....reminded me of some of the mistakes I have made and how not to make them again..

The chat suddenly generated many thoughts........

What I really want now....Peace

First few days back in Spore and one word...hot!! hot!!.... The weather is really hot compared to the weather in the States... sweating everyday even in my room... my best fren is now Mr Air Con..... the best invention of the 21st Century... without a doubt for me....

My mood since coming home has been going in one direction only...downwards....

Happy to see my parents when coming back and lying down on my comfortable bed once again... Driving my beloved car ard.... eating great local delights....

Everyting juz started to go wrong with one phone call... NTU called me during my dinner on my Dad's hp just to tell me not to go to China... Reason? .... GPA for Georgia Tech too low.... That was not what they promised earlier.. They clearly said in a email that I could go if I passed all...now they are saying my gpa is too low... crap... I wonder who said exchange is on a pass fail basis.... My parents are damn pissed and they r determined to show their unhappiness....

Actually personally I din have much feeling for this issue except that NTU's admin is really screw up...1 mth to departure and they raised this kind of issue...and they are breaking their own promises... Now, I got no hall..(din apply cos i thought i was goin China) and my subject registration is already over...now are they going to give me some shitty timing classes??

I am tired and don't care about going to China anymore. I am just unhappy that it is as if my fault that my GPA is low...THEY MATCHED ME TO THE WRONG SUBJECTS.... it is already a miracle that I passed all....irritating bunch of ppl who sit in the office making wrong management decisions....blaming students who dun do well without tinking the reasons behind it...that's spore for u...cover everything up until someone makes noise...I am going to be that someone...hee

This is spoiling my mood for my hols...

Already went thru alot during my stint in the US....realli lei le....just wan a peaceful life now... study, go out with frenz, have dinner with parents....a simple life...is it really so hard to get that? NTU cant even let me have a peaceful dinner with my parents...They have been toking abt this issue since the call....and I need a break from this....

Where is my cave?? Found it..but it is so dark....can't see any light in it....found a lightstick... but it last only 12 hrs...haha....

What do I really want now??

My answer will be peace........and more peace.......

I relish the days of studying hard during weekdays and going to tuition at SADeaf on Saturdays and family days on Sundays....

Everything just seems different now...and I mean everything....this will be the price of being away for 6 mths.....

Just a simple wish for this year..... Give me a break.....

Changes...

Touched down Singapore at 515am this morning after an 18 hr flight on SQ 21....As the plane landed at Changi Airport, the stewardess announced:"Welcome home all Singapore citizens", I have never felt so happy to hear this before...home sweet home....the feeling of seeing Singapore again. Funny feeling...quite unexplainable...Everything just seems so foreign.

Changes, changes and more changes...so many things have changed..took a walk at White Sands and Tampines Mall....So many shops have changed and everything seems so unfamiliar. Even as I drove, the roads changed. I even mistook the wiper for the signal..an embarassing moment... guess I am too used to driving in the states....made my dad panic for a while...haha....

6mths...not a really long time but definitely enough time for many things to change. Still trying to adapt back into home....suddenly feel so lost....I dun even remember where I put my stuff in my room...

haha but at least I can see my bed again...yay...nothing beats home....
